Dizziness & Imbalance:

Why have many people been told they have to live with it? It has only been recently that major advances have occurred in the diagnosis and treatment of dizziness and balance disorders. But even with these major advances, still today over 80% of dizzy patients are told they have to live with it, or they are prescribed medication that many times gives them very little help. Unfortunately, many physicians are unfamiliar with the latest advances in the diagnosis and treatment of dizziness and balance disorders. Therefore, most patients are told there is nothing that can be done and that they have to live with their problem…This is just not the case.

What is Dizziness?

Dizziness is a false sense of movement in the head that causes feelings of wooziness, light headedness, a faint feeling or feelings of instability. Dizziness does not always mean that something is
medically wrong.

Feeling dizzy can be a normal part of daily life caused by fatigue, stress, dehydration or if person just plain tired. But that being said, there are millions of people in the United States that have had to live with dizziness, imbalance and the fear of falling for many years… which certainly is not a normal part of aging.

What are the causes of Dizziness & Imbalance?

The most common causes for dizziness and balance problems are age related changes, head trauma, infections, stroke, medications and diabetes. Balance is a complicated body function requiring information from the inner ear, the eyes and the sensors of the joints and muscles. Whatever the cause of dizziness or imbalance, it is not something people have to live with. Eighty percent of patients that have dizziness and balance disorders can be helped or cured.
